THE HEADQUARTERS AND THE COLLECTIONS

Montottone has been known throughout the territory for centuries for its clay workmanship and is named "lu paese de li coccià". No one knows who introduced this activity but historical sources show that it was already present between 1200 and 1300. Situated in the "G. Perlasca" State Secondary School, the Museum of the Artisan Ceramics of Montottone has been set up, with exhibits of terracotta objects in use up to the '60s by families of the Fermo areas, together with the tools used by the Potter. Next to it, a laboratory has been set up, which offers the possibility to widen and experiment knowledge and operational techniques. During the school year many schools visit and use the structure for courses of pottery. During the summer months, everyone who wishes to visit the Museum is guided by a tour operator
